Matthias Beer has recently joined the Bamurru Plains team as Head Chef, to oversee the direction of its all-inclusive menu for guests.

Matthias began his culinary journey in Europe, where he worked at a variety of hotels in Switzerland and Germany. With more than 24 years in hospitality, German-born Matthias has led the kitchen at other Luxury Lodges of Australia, including El Questro Homestead in Kununurra in Western Australia, and Longitude 131 at Uluru in the Northern Territory.

His culinary repertoire is heavily influenced by years spent in Southeast Asia and the South Pacific where he had Executive Chef roles at the Batu Karang Lembongan Resort & Spa, on the Balinese island of Nusa Lembongan, and at the Pacific Resort Aitutaki, on the Cook Islands.

A dedicated, passionate chef, Matthias enjoys using local, seasonal produce and bringing flavours
together from a wide range of culinary influences. He also enjoys working closely with local suppliers
to best showcase their food to an international audience.

At Bamurru Plains, Matthias’ creations might include paperbark-smoked Barramundi with a desert lime compote, or Kangaroo fillet seasoned with wattleseed and macadamia.
